Pawcatuck River Canoe Trip

May 20-22, 2005.

Troop 9 began the weekend camping at Camp Aquapaug on Wardens Pond on Friday evening.  On Saturday everyone was in the water by ~8 AM to begin our quest across Wardens Pond and into the Pawcatuck river.  The trip across Wardens pond was cold, windy and wavy.  Once across the pond, we began traversing the Great Swamp portion of the river - very narrow and lots of maneuvering was needed.  Once the river widened, we could travel faster.  We arrived at our campsite in Burlingame at 6:30 PM - we made really good time that first day.  The next day, we were on the water by 7 AM and made it to the Westerly boat landing by ~3:15 PM.

In all, the Troop - 15 scouts and 9 adults - covered 31 miles in two days!
